Welcome to Black Well Martial Arts. We have been training and sharing the benefits of martial for over 6 years. Our training center located in the Hummelstown, PA and provides the perfect backdrop for developing the skill and determination needed to succeed in martial arts. Black Well Martial Arts is staffed by professional, experienced, instructors, who have dedicated their lives to sharing the power of martial arts with the community. All of our instructors are certified black belts, with no less than ten years of training experience. We offer three classes to accommodate your busy schedule. Regardless of your age or level of experience, we have a program that is tailored just for you.
At Black Well Martial Arts, we not only teach technique, we build character through inner-strength, courage, vision, respect, and discipline. The spiritual side of martial arts is not ignored.
The Guiding Principles of Combat Hapkido:
The 3 universal theories of Hapkido are:
The Water Principle (Yu)
The Circular Motion Principle (Won)
The Nonresistance (or Harmony) Principle (Hwa)
The Water Principle teaches the student to penetrate the defenses of the attacker by "flowing" in, over, around and under.
The Circular Motion Principle teaches the student how to gain and impart momentum by moving in a circular manner. By redirecting the attack in a circular direction the student controls the balance and the kinetic energy of the attacker.
The Nonresistance (or Harmony) Principle teaches the student to remain relaxed, flexible (not tense) and not to meet force with force.
The Guiding Principles of TKD:
Humanity - The ability to feel sorrow for the misfortunes of fellow men
Righteousness - The ability to feel ashamed of unjust acts and to do one's duty to others
Propriety - unlike animals fighting over food, a courteous man would offer another man a piece of bread even though both were starving
Wisdom - The ability to judge right from wrong
Trust - The ability to keep one's words and promises
